About Southgate Dentistry
Southgate Dentistry was founded by Dr. Paula MacPherson in 2012. It is a true general dental practice, providing all aspects of dental treatment from cleanings to tooth replacement, and everything in between.
Patients join the Southgate Dentistry family when their first tooth erupts and continue regular treatment into their senior years. Oral health is the top priority and the team at Southgate prides themselves in creating a relaxed and friendly environment where even the most anxious patients can feel comfortable.
Paula MacPherson (DDS)
Dr. MacPherson was born and raised in Halifax, NS. Before obtaining her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Dalhousie (2008), Paula graduated with a BSc in Biology from St. FX University (2004).
Dr. Paula comes from a long line of dentists! Her grandfather (Dinny Morrison) practiced dentistry in Nova Scotia from 1956-1990. Her father, Archie Morrison, is an oral surgeon in Halifax and also treats patients at Southgate Dentistry. Two of Paula’s sisters, Trish Brady and Teresa Burns are also dentists practicing in Halifax.
Paula is a friendly and down to earth dentist who is committed to addressing her patients’ concerns. She has a special talent for making appointments a lot more enjoyable than most are expecting!
When away from her role at Southgate Dentistry, Paula can be found, along with her husband Daryl, performing their other job as parents to their 4 young kids!
Lisa (Registered Dental Hygienist)
Lisa is one of our talented and friendly Registered Dental Hygienists. She graduated from Dalhousie University with her diploma in Dental Hygiene in 2013. Patient education and oral health are two of Lisa’s passions. Her friendly disposition and warm smile ensure you are ease during your cleanings.
When she’s not at the clinic, Lisa enjoys being outdoors, exploring and hiking with her boyfriend and two corgis.
Jessica (Registered Dental Hygienist)
Jessica is a well-rounded and efficient Registered Dental Hygienist who goes the extra mile for her patients. She received her Dental Hygiene Diploma in 2011 while living and studying in Ottawa, Ont. She is dedicated to educating patients in the prevention and treatment of periodontal disease. You can be sure that Jess will always keep patient comfort her top priority while providing a thorough cleaning.
In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, travel and keeping active.
